School Feature: Check Out Vermilion Elementary School!

Being The Best We Can Be

January was a busy and exciting month at Vermilion Elementary School. Students stayed active by participating in indoor curling, swimming, outdoor skating, cardio drumming, and basketball clubs, embracing a variety of fun and engaging activities.

The school also celebrated literacy in a big way. Players, coaches, and Board members from Vermilion’s Minor Hockey Program visited classrooms as guest readers, fostering a love for reading. The excitement continued with Buddy Reading, an Alphabet Party for Kindergarten students, and a school-wide Book Bingo. Every student received a book, and many won additional prizes, making the celebration even more special.

The Science Fair was another highlight, with 25 individual and group projects impressing community members, parents, and students alike. Six community members volunteered as judges, contributing to the success of this engaging event.

Vermilion Elementary also recognized student achievements in reading and the Legion Poster & Poetry Contest for Remembrance Day. Twelve students were awarded monetary prizes, with local Legion members presenting the awards. Additionally, students who met their Accelerated Reading goals were given the opportunity to select new books for the Learning Commons, further promoting a culture of reading and learning.

January was a month of activity, celebration, and community engagement at Vermilion Elementary School, thanks to the dedication of students, staff, families, and community partners.
